Position: Him assistant
NHC HealthCare St. Charles is looking for an HIM (Medical Records) Assistant to join our team! The position assists the Health Information Technician/Practitioner of the center with clerical and other duties established for the medical record keeping practices.
Are determined by the center and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Ensure upon admission of patients that the Admission Summery Sheet is properly and completely filled out and any preliminary forms are initiated.
Determine upon admission of patients whether additional transfer data is needed and obtain missing information.
Make sure that patient’s medical record number is on the patient armband, in addition to the other required information.
Check the EHR quantitatively on admission and periodically (once per month minimum) to assure completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency.
Communicate with and assist the medical staff and alias health personnel in updating the EHR. Interact with other departments, physicians, administrator, and regional support staff.
Maintain flow of reports to the EHR – scan into.
QA all forms that are scanned into the EHR and update as needed.

Candidates should be high school graduates with 1-3 years of experience in Health Information and a preference for CCS, CCA, or CPC-A certifications. Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, and EHR systems is required.
