Department: ICE | LPSL Laboratory Support Services
This team member provides laboratory support for the TOSH OR and supports the main UAMS campus patient care activities. They will receive samples from the hospital and clinics, examine each specimen for collection suitability, order testing in Epic if needed, and deliver samples to the testing departments. There may be driving around the main campus required to support operations at TOSH. This position's schedule could change due to staffing issues with a two week notice.
High School, GED or formal education equivalent Ability to follow oral instruction, read and write. Computer/basic keyboard skills. Telephone etiquette skills. Must have excellent customer service skills. A valid state-issued Driver's License.
1 year of experience in a medical laboratory.
Job Requirements: Answer incoming calls concerning results, proper specimen collection, test ordering and faxing reports. Process 24-hour urines and mail-in specimens. Receives specimens through the pneumatic tube station and window, scan and receive specimens into the EPIC system, re-label specimens, process add on test, order requested test from outside institutions into the EPIC system. Reconcile packing list, verify test, load specimens onto the automation lines, deliver specimens to the performing departments. Receives specimens through the processing room window and handoff locations at TOSH. Scan and receive specimens into TOSH lab before placing them on a packing list. Place specimen to be transported from TOSH to UAMS main campus on a packing list. Receive and store blood products from blood bank at UAMS main campus. Deliver blood products to requesting OR room or handoff location for floors at TOSH. Perform other duties as needed.
