The Nutritionist is responsible for performing diagnostic assessments and implementing medical nutrition therapy for patients in a clinical setting. They also develop nutritional health programs, provide patient education, and oversee food service operations.

This position will require minimal supervision and performs a full range of nutritional health program task including program development, policy interpretation implementation, and monitoring with no technical direction, performs consulted service in a clinical environment. Maintains knowledge of current nutritional technology.
Tasks and Responsibilities
1.
Diagnostic assessment of participant nutrition status.
2.
Plans and initiates medical nutrition therapy to patients if indicated requirements and clinical protocol.
3.
Certifies patients for specific program benefits.
4.
Educates and counsels patients and families on nutritional issues, either individually or in groups.
5.
Communicates individual nutritional care plans to other health care providers as a member of a health care team.
6.
Monitors and evaluates the progress towards the nutrition care plan goals.
7.
Orders and maintains inventory of program supplies, including patient checks, for clinic.
8.
Performs various administrative duties related to public health nutrition programs.
9.
Maintain professional growth and development through completion of required departmental competencies.
10.
Oversee activities and provide advice to food service operations.
11.
Plans, develops and coordinates one or more large, complex projects.
12.
Develops, directs, and/or evaluates programs related to nutrition.
13.
Delivers presentations, stand up training, or instruction to staff, management, clients, or the general public.
14.
Organizes and conducts surveys and/or studies.
15.
Provides consultation, makes recommendation, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions.
16.
Maintains contact with applicable agencies/organizations for guidance in the solution of compliance problems.
17.
Create and modify documents for activities and prepares reports as required by the program.
18.
Supper staff in assigned project based work.
19.
Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor as required.
