Summary

Provides direct patient care in the Medical Surgical Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: Director or Manager of Medical Surgical Department

How You’ll Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role

Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.

Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.

Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.

Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)

Requirements

Requires a current North Carolina Registered Nurse license and an Associate Degree in Nursing. BLS certification is required, while PALS, ACLS, and Handle with Care certifications are preferred.
