About the role

The Medication Aide is responsible for administering medications and treatments to senior residents in long-term and transitional care units. They also assist with personal care, monitor vital signs, and report resident status to nursing staff.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Medication Aide to support our residents in our Skilled Nursng Facility in Minneapolis, MN.

This role is responsible for providing senior resident care and services including administration of medications in our long term care and transitional care units under the direction of the nurse.

Assists resident with personal cares based on individual plan of care Observes residents and reports status to appropriate staff in a clear, concise manner Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed Follows all shift routines regarding measuring of vital signs, weights, and administration of medications and treatments Dispenses meds using the right route, medication, resident time, and dose Maintains an awareness of actual and potential side effects, adverse reactions, contraindications and purposes of medications Maintains a clean medication cart

Required Qualifications Nursing Assistant Course Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry Completion a standardized medication administration training program for unlicensed personnel in nursing homes which is offered through a Minnesota postsecondary educational institution. This does not expire as long as they keep their NAR certification current.

Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED 1 year None to 1 Year

Requirements

Candidates must have completed a Nursing Assistant course, be listed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, and complete a standardized medication administration training program. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
