Nurses respect patients' religious, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, use interpreter services when needed, and follow EMTALA/COBRA and Advance Directive policies, with compliance verified through chart audits and absence of valid complaints Nurses perform comprehensive, age-appropriate patient assessments from infant to geriatric and develop individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, documented within specified timeframes 95% of the time Nurses carry out nursing interventions, hourly rounding, and OB-specific protocols such as labor monitoring, delivery, and neonatal stabilization, while communicating findings promptly to physicians and other team members Nursing goals and interventions are regularly reassessed and updated each shift, with accurate, complete documentation across admission, discharge, and flow sheets Staff provide age- and language-appropriate education, complete medication reconciliation and discharge instructions, and ensure smooth handoff communication and referrals to services like Social Services and Public Health across care transitions Nurses demonstrate effective team collaboration, conflict resolution, and workload management, alongside verified proficiency in department-specific equipment like fetal monitors and IV pumps and procedures like neonatal resuscitation and OB emergency response Job Requirements Required Registered Nurse: Greater than one (1) year recent experience in Post-Partum or Med-Surg.

Registered Nurse: CA Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - CPR within six (6) months Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within six (6) months Must achieve or maintain a current National Certification Corporation (NCC) certificate in Electronic Fetal Monitoring OR, Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification: Experienced RNs with greater than one (1) year of labor and delivery experience will have six (6) months from hire to obtain certification.

New Grad or RN with no prior L&D experience will have twenty-four (24) months to complete orientation and certification (if L&D orientation is completed sooner, then the certification will need to be completed accordingly).

Should orientation need to be extended, the nurse will be granted additional time accordingly to obtain certification which will be communicated by leadership and / or educator.

Staff hired originally into the cost center 638000-Obstetrics Acute by May 1, 2021 are not required to obtain or maintain electronic fetal monitoring certification unless they are cross-trained to 740000Labor and Delivery.

Staff hired after May 1, 2021 must complete Postpartum and Labor and Delivery cross training within twenty-four (24) months from date of hire.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.

This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Requirements

Requires a Registered Nurse license with over one year of experience in Post-Partum or Med-Surg and current BLS certification. Candidates must obtain or maintain ACLS, NRP, and Electronic Fetal Monitoring certifications within specified timeframes.
