About the role

The counselor facilitates group therapy sessions for adults with acute mental health and substance use symptoms. They are responsible for maintaining a safe therapeutic environment and ensuring the activities schedule meets regulatory standards.

Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire an experienced Group Therapy Counselor with behavioral health experience to provide group therapy for adults who experience acute mental health symptoms and substance use.

ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL Silver Lake Hospital's state of the art acute inpatient dual diagnosis program provides inpatient treatment for adults who experience acute mental health symptoms and substance use. We are looking for compassionate, warm, caring and highly professional health care individuals who have a passion for helping others.

Position Summary

The Group Therapy Counselor facilitates group therapy sessions, providing a therapeutic space where individuals can share their experiences, gain support, and develop coping strategies within a structured and safe environment. Ensures that the activities group schedule is followed and meets regulations.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) required. Experience working with psychiatric and substance abuse patients. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Demonstrates a commitment to service, organization mission, vision, values and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times. Positive interpersonal relationships, embody and patient/family centered philosophy. Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with others. Required skills: critical thinking, analytical, interpersonal, organizational. Strong communication and presentation skills. Excellent analytical, time management and organizational skills.

Requirements
