About the role

Provide enhanced nutrition care and medical nutrition therapy to oncology patients, including assessment and plan of care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and mentor dietetic students and interns.

Join our team of Life Changers! UPMC is hiring a Full-Time, Outpatient Oncology Dietitian to support the Hillman Cancer Center in York.

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
  • No holidays or weekends

Responsibilities

As required, knowledgeable about outpatient billing guidelines and performs necessary documentation to ensure compliance of client charges with regulatory requirements. Appropriate execution of order writing as governed by the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol. Demonstrate effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team. Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units & participate as a member of interdisciplinary committees, responding to needs and initiatives for nutrition care process improvement. Contribute to maintaining standards of nutritional care current for the system. Provide enhanced nutrition care to all patients including those within specialized patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy to include assessment, goals and plan of care. Provide timely interventions as determined by Nutrition Risk level and the Plan of Care. Formulate a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through application of Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition. Mentor and train dietetic students, interns and support personnel and provide feedback for student and program improvement. Provide appropriate nutritional education and counseling based upon patient/family learning needs and abilities. As required, demonstrate professional writing skills adaptable to all health literacy levels in preparing materials, presentations and other communications. Provide in-servicing or CEU opportunities to the multidisciplinary team at the department, facility or system level annually. Lead at least one annual department, facility or system-based initiative or Quality Process Improvement activity through to completion annually with the ability to actively endorse evidence-based practice. Complete at least one professional contribution annually.

Dietitian II Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics degree with Registered Dietitian certification obtained before January 1, 2026 with 2 years clinical nutrition experience required. OR Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with Registered Dietitian certification obtained on or after January 1, 2026 with 1 year of clinical nutrition experience required. Dietitian, Advance Practitioner Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with Registered Dietitian certification obtained before January 1, 2026 with 4 years clinical nutrition experience required. OR Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with Registered Dietitian certification obtained on or after January 1, 2026 with 3 year of clinical nutrition experience required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
