The Perioperative RN manages the care of pediatric and adult patients undergoing surgical procedures. Responsibilities include clinical assessment, care planning, and the implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions.
The Perioperative RN is responsible for managing the care of the pediatric and adult patient requiring a surgical procedure. The Perioperative RN is a professional nurse who is directly or indirectly responsible for delivering total nursing care to the perioperative patient during various phases of the perioperative stay. The Perioperative RN participates in the clinical assessment, planning for care, implantation of appropriate nursing techniques and evaluation of nursing interventions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1 year previous Perioperative RN experience preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. ACLS within 6 months of employment. Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current Texas RN license and BLS certification. One year of perioperative experience is preferred, and ACLS certification is required within six months of hire.
