The intern assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through medication management, charting, and wellness education. They support both Community Residence and Day Habilitation programs across multiple locations.

Middletown, NY Other locations available throughout Orange, Ulster, Columbia, and Greene Counties.

Hours

  • Flexible within the following time frame,
  • Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
  • Pay: Unpaid Our IDD nurses assist individuals with developmental disabilities in our Community Residence program, as well as in our Day Habilitation program. Our Community Residence program provides a warm and caring home to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom also have behavioral or medical complexities. Our Day Habilitation program provides adults with access to clinical and nursing supports while they are engaged in a learning environment that takes place at site based and community settings utilizing the arts, computers, and volunteering aimed at the development of greater independent living skills. The nurses that work within these program offer care to individuals with varying levels of need at multiple locations throughout the week. This position requires that applicants be enrolled in a degree program that will grant them credit hours for their internship. Applicants must also be an associate level nursing student.   • FUNCTIONS: Observe and assist with medication counts. Observe and assist with medication pours. Ensure client appointments are scheduled. Assist in charting of client medical information. Provide medication and wellness patient education.

  • SUPPORT: Participate in daily IDD Nursing huddles. Patriciate in weekly supervision. Additional assignments may be determined at a future date.

  • ATTRIBUTES: Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and competency at all times. Excellent communication skills.

  • EXPERIENCE: Current associate level nursing student. Prior experience in nursing is a plus.

Requirements

Applicants must be current associate level nursing students enrolled in a degree program that grants credit for internships. A cover letter detailing school, degree program, and internship requirements is required.
