About the role

The Surgical Assistant supports physicians and nurses in the examination and treatment of patients across multiple orthopedic specialties. Key duties include triaging patients, preparing examination rooms, and providing direct assistance during surgical procedures in various hospitals and surgery centers.

Description Love being in the OR? We have your dream job. Ideal candidate is a hard working Physician Assistant with at least 2 years of Orthopedic and surgical experience. Has Colorado license, NCCPA certified, DEA and prescriptive authority.

Must be open to learning new skills to add onto current skill set, have a team work mentality. Will work in multiple specialties including Sports Medicine, Joint Replacement, Spine, Hand, and Foot and Ankle. We cover a group of 8 busy surgeons. At quite a few different hospitals and surgery centers.

Surgical assistant position overview

Surgical assistants' main responsibilities are to assist the physician, physician assistant or nurse in the examination and treatment of patients, and assist nurses as needed by performing the following duties

SURGICAL ASSISTANT ESSENENTIAL FUNCTIONS triage patients and administer appropriate treatment under the direction of a physician or other medical provider's staff.

May operate equipment for a diagnostic test or given injections prepares the examination room for each patient's visit; ensures adequate supplies and appropriate instruments are available Greets and rooms patients, takes temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assesses condition of patient.

Documents patient history and medication and records this and any other pertinent information in the chart phones pharmacies with new prescriptions and prescription refills.

Documents this information in the patients chart instructs patients on potential information essential to their care and treatment.

Reviews handout material, videos, and medical instruction complies with OSHA and CLIA compliance while performing all duties possesses a working knowledge of operating room procedures with respect to attire, infection control, and is familiar with individual requirements and recommended practices of compliance must have the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon, and other team members, with respect to the requirements of a particular surgical procedure must be able to demonstrate and maintain dexterity sufficient to successful completion of their assistant duties on each particular procedure must maintain a professional attitude with respect to dignity, privacy, and safety of patients must possess the ability to only function within the limits of their ability, within the scope of their professional license, and within the policies of the facility in which they are working PAY & BENEFITS: $100,000 - $130,000 per year Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Generous PTO package and paid holidays Company-paid life insurance and long term disability insurance Ability to purchase accident insurance, short and long-term disability insurance.

Requirements

SURGICAL ASSISTANT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Surgical assist license according to state requirements Or trained or experienced according to certification requirements orthopedic surgical assists preferred EHR SURGICAL ASSISTANT DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: strong verbal communication teaching ability good telephone skills attention to detail ability to remain calm and be effective in emergency situations WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical business office environment Possibility of local travel Constant viewing of computer monitor, mousing and typing Frequent standing, walking and sitting Frequent stooping, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling 10 pounds or more Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work early, late and long hours, as needed, to meet the essential functions of the job
