Practice for this role

About the role

Provide high-quality psychiatric care to adults 18+ through 60-minute evaluations and 30-minute follow-up appointments. Collaborate with a remote clinical team and engage in weekly paid continuing education and peer support sessions.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE. Our office lines are for patients only. To be considered, you must submit an application. Calling our office directly will disqualify your application.

ABOUT US If you have worked in telepsychiatry before, you may know the feeling

high volume, short visits, no real team, and the sense that you are a name on a roster rather than a clinician with a voice. That is the model we were built to be different from. Mental Health Practitioners is a woman-owned psychiatric practice serving patients across California, Arizona, and Oregon. Our practice is co-owned by a practicing PMHNP who still sees patients every week and leads the clinical side with one guiding question: would I want to work here, and would I want to be a patient here? Our goal is to be known as one of the best places in California to receive mental health care, and one of the best places to practice it. We are building a team of clinicians who want to help define what high-quality psychiatric care looks like in this state.

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT Clinician ownership. a PMHNP co-owns the practice and leads clinical strategy.

A real team.

We genuinely value communication and collegiality, even in a remote setting.

Paid weekly protected time. two hours every week, including peer connection and your own continuing education.

Dedicated support.

Every full-time provider is paired with their own dedicated virtual assistant.

An EMR built for clinicians.

Our PMHNP co-owner has personally invested hundreds of hours building and customizing our EMR and clinical workflows so that seeing patients feels manageable, not exhausting.

Your CURES report is ready at 6am.

Our virtual assistants pull your CURES report daily so it is ready for you to review first thing, with no scrambling between patients.

Admin handled. scheduling, billing, insurance, credentialing, intake, and tech support are all managed for you.

60-minute evaluations and 30-minute follow-ups. with the option for 60-minute follow-ups any time a patient needs more time.

Clinical judgment lives with you, not a billing algorithm.

100% remote. flexible scheduling that works around your life.

HOW WE BUILD TEAM INTO A REMOTE JOB Two hours of meetings a week.

That is it.

One hour PMHNP team meeting: case discussion, peer support, and colleagues who understand your work.

One hour protected, paid CE: journal clubs, guest speakers, and deep dives, including learning sessions with our MD, who is deeply passionate about high-quality care, fully pro-PMHNP, and personally invested in your continuing education.

The rest of your time is yours and your patients’.

POPULATION Adults 18+. Treating teens and geriatric patients is entirely optional. We want you working with the populations you love, and we will prioritize building your caseload around the patients and conditions you most enjoy treating. Clinicians who get to do work they are passionate about take better care of people.

Requirements

Active California PMHNP license in good standing Board-certified PMHNP Active California DEA license 2+ years of post-licensure outpatient psychiatric experience New graduates are not eligible for this role

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR The ideal candidate is

An experienced PMHNP who takes pride in thoughtful, high-quality psychiatric care Collaborative and engaged, and who values being part of a real clinical team Comfortable practicing independently with strong clinical judgment Committed to communication, collegiality, and continuous learning Looking for a long-term home rather than a short-term roster spot Excited to help shape what high-quality remote psychiatric care can look like

Market context

California PMHNP roles stay highly competitive

California continues to show steady demand for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, especially in settings that rely on telehealth and flexible psychiatric coverage. These roles are competitive because employers typically look for an active, unencumbered PMHNP license, DEA registration, malpractice coverage, and comfort with telehealth workflows. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits on this page to save research time, then confirm your licensure, DEA status, insurance, and telehealth experience before applying.
