Experienced Dental Assistant Heck Family Dentistry Lawrence, KS Full-Time | $22–$25 per hour Heck Family Dentistry is looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our busy, patient-focused team in Lawrence, KS.
This is a great role for someone who already knows dental assisting, can keep up in a fast-paced clinical environment, and knows how to help patients feel calm, comfortable, and cared for.
Many of our patients come to us with dental anxiety, so the right person for this role needs more than strong assisting skills.
We need someone with a steady presence, excellent bedside manner, and the ability to build trust with patients who may be nervous about treatment.
An experienced DA is needed for this role.
We are looking for someone who can step into a busy practice, work well with a large team, and help the day run smoothly.
Schedule Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Tuesday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM as needed, typically 0–3 times per month Pay and Benefits $22–$25 per hour, based on experience Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life and disability options 401(k) with match PTO and holidays Why This Role Is a Strong Fit Full-time position with a set weekly schedule Established Lawrence dental practice Fast-paced clinical environment Large, team-oriented office Opportunity to work with a wide range of procedures Strong focus on patient comfort, especially for anxious patients Modern practice with advanced dental technology Supportive team that values professionalism, communication, and follow-through What You’ll Do Assist doctors during a variety of dental procedures Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment Support anxious patients with a calm, reassuring, and professional approach Take dental x-rays as needed Maintain clean, stocked, and organized operatories Follow infection control, sterilization, and OSHA standards Accurately document clinical notes Help the clinical team stay on schedule Communicate clearly with doctors, hygienists, assistants, and front office team members Jump in where needed to support the flow of a busy practice What We’re Looking For Prior Dental Assistant experience required Comfortable working in a fast-paced dental office Strong chairside assisting skills Excellent patient communication skills Calm, confident, and compassionate with high-anxiety patients Reliable, organized, and able to stay focused during a busy day Team-first attitude Ability to work well with a larger clinical and administrative team Professional, dependable, and ready to contribute Experience with sedation dentistry, implants, oral surgery, cosmetic dentistry, emergency dentistry, or advanced restorative procedures is a plus.
