About the role

The PA will coordinate patient care, assist in the operating room, and provide coverage for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities include performing physical assessments, rounding on admitted patients, and managing discharge summaries and medication orders.

Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an experienced physician assistant (PA) to join our growing cardiothoracic surgery service line.

Shift

7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a post call day off during the week. 1 in 3 call shared with other PAs. After Operating Room cases (dependent on patient volume) would provide Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), coverage with 2 other dedicated CVICU PAs. Primary Department, Division, or

UHS Cardiothoracic Annual Compensation Range: $173,800 - $240,000 ----- Position Responsibilities: Coordinate patient care. Counsel patients about concerns under the direction of the supervising physician(s). Round on patients admitted to the hospital; review care plans with nursing staff as established by our physicians. Assist in the operating room. Vein Harvest experience required. Perform physical assessments on patients and complete patient histories. Complete discharge summaries. Order medications, treatments, labs, etc. Be available for call about patient conditions according to the pre-established schedule. Includes holiday responsibilities. Other duties as determined by the supervising physician(s). Education and Skills Required: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Current licensure with the state of New York as a physician assistant (PA). Completion of an accredited PA program. Master of Science in Physician Assistant related field Good verbal and written communication skills. Focused, collaborative environment providing state-of-the-art Cardiothoracic Surgery services including: VA and VV ECMO, IABP and Impella VADS Growing TAVR and Minimally Invasive Valve Program On pump, Off Pump, Hybrid and MICS CABG program Comprehensive Minimally Invasive Thoracic and Foregut Surgery Program Position located at United Health Services Hospitals Wilson Square, Heart & Vascular Institute.

Salary Range

Requirements

Candidates must be NCCPA certified and hold a current New York state license as a physician assistant. A Master of Science in a PA-related field and specific experience in vein harvesting are required.
