Picks up orders and delivers drugs to patient care areas and other drug storage locations.
Receives and reviews orders for intravenous solutions.
Prepares intravenous admixture solutions.
Performs repackaging duties, as required, maintain records.
Assists in maintaining and properly storing an adequate inventory of pharmacy items.
Rotates stock and checks expiration dates.
Returns outdated and unusable drugs to the manufacturer or vendor.
Documents and processes all recalled drugs.
Processes orders with wholesalers and manufacturers and checks in stock.
Places orders received on shelves.
Processes invoices.
Maintains a clean Pharmacy area.
Performs billing functions.
Enters orders into the computer system.
Maintains Pharmacy patient profiles.
Reconciles profiles and nursing medication administration records.
Assists with preparation of employee prescriptions.
Assists with collection and recording of statistical information and quality management data.
Performs data processing functions.
Performs monthly nursing unit inspections.
Checks and records refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
Provides timely drug information to the Hospital’s professional staff or to patients.
Issues controlled substances and controlled substances records to patient care areas and maintains records, as required, by law and Pharmacy policies and procedures.
Maintains current price list.
Maintains borrow/lend records, issues and charges Departments for drugs and supplies issued from the Pharmacy.
Assists the Pharmacist in monitoring patient drug therapy regimens for contra-indications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions.
Performance of other duties, as assigned.
Abide by Hospital policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
Assure all tasks performed are in compliance with related State and Federal guidelines, rules and regulations.
Certified Pharmacy Technician achievement within one (1) year of job placement with required continuing education.
Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
IV Admixture Preparation training.
A minimum of six (6) months experience or equivalent preferred.
Must be currently certified as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Texas.
