Location: University of Miami Hospital & Clinics - Cardio Lab UTower CORE JOB SUMMARY The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist 2 works with physicians to diagnose and treat diseases or defects of the heart and blood vessels by using the echoes of sound waves to create images.

Core job functions 1.

Searches for abnormalities in blood flow sounds, heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, and the appearance of the heart.

2.

Positions patients and explains procedures.

3.

Performs quality control functions.

4.

Evaluates ultrasounds for diagnostic quality.

5.

Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques.

6.

Develops ultrasound film and matches it with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.

7.

Assists with the maintenance and compilation of statistical data.

8.

Provides training to new and student cardiac ultrasound technologists.

9.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Candidates must be graduates of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Required certifications include an RDCS license from ARDMS or an RCS license from CCI.
