The Medical Assistant performs delegated nursing functions and assists with direct patient care and clerical duties. Key tasks include taking vital signs, scheduling patients, and maintaining patient areas to ensure optimal care coordination.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing the delegated nursing functions under the direction of the department leader and clinical nurses. This position is responsible for assisting with direct patient care and clerical duties that are an essential function in the coordination of optimal patient care, including, but not limited to scheduling patients, patient hygiene/toileting, mobility assistance, interdepartmental transportation, vital signs, charting, ordering supplies, cleaning and stocking patient areas, chart audits and interaction with all areas of the department .

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high school equivalency) and successful completion of a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

  • Experience: None required. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant externship and two (2) or more years of job-related experience preferred.

  • Experience: One (1) or more years of medial assisting experience.
  • Required
  • Certification/License/Registry: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential from American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and completion of an accredited medical assisting program with a CMA or RMA credential. While no experience is required, a medical assistant externship or previous experience is preferred.
