Advises physicians on the inherent dangers of drugs, incorrect prescription doses, and their eventual side effects. Promotes improvement in drug usage and dosage and provides supervision to therapeutic procedures for best results. Coordinates the Pharmacy’s duties, including the preparation, labeling, and delivery of various medications or supplies according to prescriptions. Ensures all dispensed drugs are recorded and delivered in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Observes and treats patients in all healthcare settings and conducts research to further pharmaceutical care and advance the treatment and prevention of disease. Individualizes medication regimens while accounting for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption. Suggests improvement in work methods. Conducts and evaluates medication histories, assesses compliance, and suggests modifications to achieve desired outcomes. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions Ordering, dispensing, and accountability of medications for treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV treatment. Oversee medication and vaccine inventory, coordinating ordering and delivery workflows, and ensuring appropriate documentation for regulatory and operational requirements. Supports high-impact clinical services by managing STI medications, vaccines, long-acting injectable therapies, PrEP-related workflows, and buy-and-bill processes that directly affect patient access, continuity of care, and reimbursement outcomes. Administrative support through invoice review, vendor payment coordination, wholesaler account management, reimbursement tracking, ACH deposit monitoring, and reconciliation of pharmacy-related expenses. Participates in regulatory oversight and compliance monitoring for the 340B pharmacy program. Perform pharmacy functions as part of clinical research trials including evaluation and implementation of research protocols, tracking and monitoring of research investigational product, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Collaboration with clinicians and administrators to develop and/or refine pharmacy protocols related to STD treatment and HIV treatment and prevention. Consult and advise clinicians regarding HIV and STD treatment and prevention pharmaceuticals.
