Baptist Health Medical Group Administrative Medical Assistant Primary Care Palmyra, Indiana Full time/First shift The Administrative Medical Assistant will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical and administrative support to providers. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout the patients visit to create an exceptional patient experience. Proactively check the provider’s schedule and review information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit. Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date, which helps to ensure better care is being provided. Upon arrival, captures patient’s vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities based on Training and Certification Scope: Able to respond to patient call backs and phone in prescription refill requests. Able to administer medication and injections, as directed by Physician/Provider Able to perform phlebotomy on patients, as directed by the Physician/ Provider Able to perform EKG’s, PFT’s spirometry, nebulizer treatments and ear irrigations, and other procedures, as required by the practice and directed by the Physician/Provider Able to perform in-office lab testing such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the physician/provider. Able to perform sterilization on instruments used for minor procedures/surgeries according to the CDC recommended guidelines. Maintains all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role being performed. Minimum Requirements non-certified Medical Assistant Admin: High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency plus: Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information, plus. Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate to be received within 90 days, plus one of the following. Prior working experience as a C.N.A, EMT, Phlebotomist, Athletic Trainer or other healthcare discipline that provides direct patient care. Or a Certified MA from the National Health Career Association (NHA). Or completed any MA education program but has not received certification as of yet. Upon hire these disciplines will be assessed for clinical competency and be required to successfully complete an MA orientation | externship as well as complete any additional training as required by the Provider. Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant Admin: High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency plus: Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP. Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure. Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation. Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus. Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire. BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire. Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and Basic Life Support certification. Preference is given to candidates with a Medical Assistant certification (AAMA, AMT, etc.) or a degree from an accredited LPN or RN program.
