Function primarily as a circulating nurse within the pediatric operating room, providing safe and therapeutic care. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs across various surgical specialties including neurology, cardiac, and general surgery.
The UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (OR) consists of 11 surgical suites and 1 procedural. Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing.
Neurology, Ortho/Spine, Otolaryngology, Urology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, Cardiac, General Surgery, GI, Hem/Onc.
All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
Requires a California RN license, AHA CPR and PALS certifications, and either AORN Periop 101 with 2 years experience or 5 years of OR experience. Proficiency in circulating for at least three specific surgical services is mandatory.
