Provides both clerical and clinical support to MedWorks Occupational Health, including patient reception, flow, and care. Maintains patient electronic records, ensures adequate office and medical supplies, explains policies and procedures, routes patient information, answers phone calls, and provides clinical support as directed by Medical Providers. This role does not require interaction with Centralized Scheduling or insurance companies. Assists With Patient Care Delivers on-site patient care under Medical Provider direction, including suturing, wound care, and debridement Ensures timely patient callbacks in accordance with medical protocols Obtains health history and baseline patient data Reviews patient records for completeness prior to visits Maintains Clinical Areas Restocks exam rooms with instruments and medical supplies Cleans and prepares exam rooms per protocol; sterilizes instruments as necessary Arranges proper disposal of lab and medical waste Performs quality control checks and maintains records for lab equipment and refrigerators Clinical

  • Performs routine physical assessments: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, visual acuity, EKG, and Pulmonary Function Tests Collects urine and blood samples per established protocols Administers audiograms per OSHA standards Conducts breath alcohol testing per DOT and company guidelines Performs urine drug screening collections per DOT, non-DOT, and client-specific protocols, including chain of custody procedures Runs simple lab tests (CBC, glucose, etc.) following policy and procedure Updates patient records as needed in preparation for provider review Reporting & Results Management Monitors the return of lab and test results; ensures all requested results are complete and available for provider review Reports physical clearance results, lab results, and testing outcomes to client companies and offices as requested Uses discretion when disseminating patient information to outside sources

  • Performs reception duties: answering phones, processing patients, and accurately entering demographic information Operates office equipment including fax machines, copiers, and other devices Assists the Office Manager with projects and requests Places office supply orders to maintain adequate inventory Keeps reception area and workspace clean and organized QualificationsEducational / Minimum Requirements High School Diploma required Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program or 1 year of direct patient care experience in a medical or hospital setting preferred Current CPR certification required prior to employment State/Federal Mandated Requirements Current BLS/CPR certification Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements General orientation at time of hire Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually Other programs as mandated Special Requirements DOT/Urine Specimen Collector Certification Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) Certification Psyche Medics Sample Certification Spirometry Testing Certification Escreen 123 Trainer and Collector Certificate Demonstrated proficiency in EKG testing Ability to take vital signs and knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Familiarity with medical equipment common to a medical practice Floats to other areas as needed Physical Requirements Frequent bending, stooping, walking, and sitting; on feet most of the day Assists patients in and out of treatment rooms, chairs, and exam tables Spends up to 1–4 hours per day at a computer performing data entry Must be able to hear and understand routine conversation in person and over the phone Sufficient visual acuity to read, use computers, and perform essential job functions Must be able to speak clearly and be understood by the average person Significant documentation and paperwork review requiring extensive visual acuity Work Environment Medical office setting with direct exposure to patients, body fluids, and possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens High volume of telephone and in-person contact with customers Cognitive Requirements Ability to triage patients based on need and time constraints Excellent communication skills Provides comprehensive, accurate initial assessments to Medical Providers Reads and comprehends both routine and technical information Writes clearly so the average person can understand Performs simple calculations for medication doses, physical exams, and administered tests

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and current CPR/BLS certification, with a preference for a Medical Assisting program completion or one year of patient care experience. Must possess or obtain specific certifications for DOT specimen collection, breath alcohol testing, and spirometry.
