About the role

Provides clinical support to patient care staff by performing duties such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with activities of daily living. Additionally, performs specialized tasks including EKGs, phlebotomy, and splinting in a fast-paced emergency department.

Emergency Department

The ED is a fast-paced environment where nursing staff care for patients of all ages with emergency medical complaints.

The high volume GSH ED sees about 45,000 patients each year.

Our highly trained staff are supported by a Director, Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinators, Clinical Educator, and On-Boarding Specialists.

The ED specific orientation is comprehensive to include care for high-risk patients, life threatening conditions and illnesses, as well as care of patients with psychiatric disorders, and lower acuity patients.

Certifications covered in orientation are BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

General Summary

Provides clinical support services to patient care staff by performing a variety of duties related to patient care. Takes patient vital signs, assists patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, feeding, toileting, etc.), inventories and replenishes supplies and equipment, and performs special assigned and or delegated duties such as performing EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, phlebotomy and splinting.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and less than one year of experience as a Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Nursing Student. Heartsaver CPR/AED certification is required upon hire, while CNA certification is preferred.
