The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, recording medical histories, and performing preliminary physical tests. They also manage medical supply inventories and ensure medical equipment is properly maintained and operational.
Duties: and Responsibilities:
Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventative maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; and keeping patient information confidential.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Keeps supplies ready by inventory stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance and calling for repairs.
Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, and meets attendance/punctuality requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be CPR certified or become certified during probationary period and maintain certification throughout employment with COMC. Must maintain CEUs as directed by COMC.
Knowledge of fundamental math, adding machine, calculator, and Microsoft office.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all COMC locations will be required. Employee should have valid Missouri driver’s license. Overnight travel may also be required in specific incidences of training, conferences, etc.
