Alleghany Highlands Community Services: Our Mission For over 40 years, AHCS has been the primary public behavioral healthcare provider in the Alleghany Highlands area, offering services to adults and children with challenges related to mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities.

Your day as an InterN As a paid intern at Alleghany Highlands Community Services, you will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of mental health, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and developmental disabilities.

You will engage with seasoned professionals to learn how to identify symptoms, explore various treatment modalities, and develop essential assessment and diagnostic skills.

This hands-on experience will enable you to create person-centered service plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.

With a focus on growth and learning, you will gain invaluable insights that will prepare you for a successful career in the mental health field, all while contributing to the well-being of individuals in our community.
