Overview Registered Nurse, Interventional Radiology Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift Fort Sanders Regional Overview: Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 444-bed hospital recognized for pairing clinical expertise with advanced medical technology to deliver exceptional care. As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, we provide leading-edge treatment for stroke recovery. Our facility also offers specialized services in bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. Position Summary

Provides nursing services to Interventional Radiology (IVR) Lab patients in accordance with established nursing standards and practices; sets-up hemodynamic transducers and electrical amplifiers; records and obtains hemodynamic and angiographic data; assesses patient during invasive interventional and delivers therapy/moderate (conscious) sedation as required. Coordinates patient care with other health care professionals.

Responsibilities

Prepares patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting-up pressure transducers and tubing. Obtains and records hemodynamic and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic, electrical amplifiers, digital line and fluoroscopic equipment. Attends to patient needs during IVR/ radiological procedures and/or studies as required. Develops and contributes to a plan of nursing care for the patient. Administers intravenous and oral medications to patients. Assists in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases. Precepts/trains new employees/students in the techniques of IVR/radiological procedures. Monitors patient’s vital signs during and after interventional/radiology procedures. Participates in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Completes nursing history if appropriate. Assesses learning needs of patient and family, develops and initiates teaching plan. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members. Resolves problems regarding less complex issues without oversight or supervision. Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians and other customers needs. Assists with identification of Department or Health system education needs and provides 2-3 hours of in-service education annually. Participates on unit-based committee/serves as council representatives with 75% participation. Functions as a role model to peers by cross-training to other departments, and serving as a resource person. Completes department specific checklist and any additional requirements as needed. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience and/or at least two (2) years of critical care experience in arrhythmia and hemodynamic monitoring of patients in an acute-care setting; knowledge of electronic monitoring devices. Licensure Requirement: Valid RN license with State of TN; CPR certification required.

Requires a valid Tennessee RN license and CPR certification. Candidates must have at least three years of professional nursing experience or two years of critical care experience in arrhythmia and hemodynamic monitoring.
