About the role

Provides essential nursing assistant tasks and direct patient care within a rehab unit. Collaborates with RNs to report patient status changes and supports unit activities and new staff onboarding.

UPMC East is hiring a full-time Patient Care Technician for the rehab unit. This role involves working 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts. If you're interested, apply today!

Responsibilities

Receive Feedback: Constructively accepts feedback and direction. Continuous Learning: Identifies learning needs and takes action to improve skills and performance.

Communication

Establishes effective communication with other departments and maintains professional relationships.

Patient

Care: Assists with patient procedures, daily activities, and therapies. Provides feedback to RNs and reports changes in patient status.

Equipment

Management: Reports equipment malfunctions and ensures proper communication with relevant departments.

Team

Collaboration: Contributes to unit activities, supports new staff onboarding, and participates in department projects and committees.

Core

Duties: Performs essential nursing assistant tasks such as blood glucose monitoring, vital signs, specimen collection, and more. May also handle complex wound care, EKGs, and NG tube management based on department needs.

Safety and

Documentation: Adheres to safety policies, documents patient care accurately, and complies with hospital procedures.

High school diploma or equivalent.

1 year of healthcare experience required Successful completion of basic information system training.

Microcomputer experience preferred.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.

Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.

May, in the course of their duties, be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients.

Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: ACLS preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Act 34
