About the unit The Surgery Department has 3 operating rooms, 2 endo suites, c-section room and supports other services including manometry and bronchoscopy.
It is the busiest regional site performing roughly 200 more procedures than other top performing regional sites monthly.
We see a variety of cases including multi-specialty, ortho, general OB/GYN, urology, dentistry, Ear Nose and Throat, and bariatric.

Scope of work The Surgical Technologist maintains responsibility for preparation of the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, making appropriate responses as needed.
Is responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures.
May serve as a Preceptor.
Provides sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure.
Performs surgical sponge, needle and instrument counts.
Creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment.
Prepares case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments and medications/solutions for each surgical case.
Assists in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintains a protective position throughout the case.
Works proactively with physicians to submit preference card changes to align specialties.
Suggests instrument set changes to EMI and works with SPD identifying instrument sets that need to be worked on.

Required Associate's Degree or equivalent Completion of an Accredited School of Surgical Technology. Not all schools involve an Associate's degree. Surgical Technologist Experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience) Preferred CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
Requires an Associate's degree or completion of an accredited school of surgical technology. BLS certification from AHA or ARC is preferred and required within 90 days.
