About the role

Provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families. Manage treatment plans, conduct crisis interventions, and collaborate with professional staff to ensure patient progress.

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The purpose of the Outpatient Behavioral Health Therapist/Counselor is to provide a range of psychological assessment, diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or case management services for individuals, couples, groups, and/or families, as appropriate to the specific expectations of the position.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Duty 1: Diagnose and treat mental health disorders Duty 2: Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to individuals and families as appropriate to the position; prepares treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.

Duty 3: Collects information about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates information to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.

Duty 4: Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for patients or clients in a crisis condition and for those with serious disturbance problems.

Duty 5: Conduct ongoing assessment of individual’s progress to determine reliability and validity of treatment used; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery as appropriate.

Duty 6: Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.

Duty 7: Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.

Duty 8: Participates in, leads, and/or coordinates training sessions and workshops to enhance treatment skills.

Duty 9: Follows all safety protocols and maintains client confidentiality.

Duty 10: Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Current license in the State of Ohio as LISW, LPCC or LMFT Ability to work remotely This position may not be inclusive to the Blanchard Valley Medical Practice (BVMP) that you are assigned at the time of hire, which may require you to work at another BVMP location, as needed.

Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.

Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department/BVMP location.

Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status.

Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area’s policies and procedures.

Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.

Individual must be able to use the computer for documentation in the electronic medical record and demonstrate the ability to document in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications

2 years working in behavioral health setting or position working with behavioral health needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The individual must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement. This position is classified “at risk” for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)

Requirements

Must hold a current Ohio license as an LISW, LPCC, or LMFT. Preferred candidates have 2 years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
