Assist with chemotherapy and radiation therapy protocols while managing patient appointments and medical documentation. Provide clinical support including venipuncture, IV placement, and client education in a fast-paced oncology environment.

We are looking for: Oncology Veterinary Assistant Our Oncology department assists with chemotherapy and radiation treatments, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, as well as client education and communication.

This is a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail, compassion and a desire to drive excellent patient care.

What you’ll do

Managing appointments: obtaining histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc., as well as organize and manage daily service flow Ensure documentation is accurate and complete Assist with chemotherapy and radiation therapy protocols Safety as it relates to secondary exposure and patient safety Administration procedures including extravasation protocols Medications, protocols and related drug dosages Drug calculations as they relate to the treatment plan Side effects and general treatment guidelines Vertical-flow hood maintenance Clinical studies/trials Setting up/assisting with CT and radiation treatments Venipuncture, restraint, basic laboratory skills Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance

Client communication and education

Who you are: Prior veterinary experience required, previous oncology experience desired Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.) Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Requirements

Prior veterinary experience is required, with previous oncology experience preferred. Candidates must be proficient in drug calculations and possess excellent communication skills with the flexibility to work additional hours.
