About the Role

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MDS assessment processes and federal/state regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of clinical documentation and care planning.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and MDS software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as an MDS Coordinator or related credential.
• Experience with quality improvement initiatives and data analysis in healthcare.
• Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement methodologies.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive MDS assessments for residents in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and medical staff to collect accurate clinical data and ensure completeness of assessments.
• Review and analyze patient records to identify changes in condition and update care plans accordingly.
• Submit MDS data to appropriate regulatory bodies within required timeframes to ensure compliance and proper reimbursement.
• Provide training and support to clinical staff on MDS processes and documentation requirements.
• Monitor and audit MDS data quality to identify and correct discrepancies or errors.
• Stay current with changes in MDS regulations, guidelines, and best practices to maintain compliance.
