The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare provider by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a busy, fast-paced outpatient orthopedic clinic.

This position involves direct patient interaction, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting provider during procedures.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a sterile and safe environment by adhering to strict sterilization protocols and infection control standards.

By efficiently managing both clinical and clerical duties, the Medical Assistant helps enhance patient care quality and clinic workflow.

Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and the effective delivery of healthcare services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Proficiency in taking and recording vital signs accurately.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of medical provider and other healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR and First Aid.
  • Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and record patients' vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all medical instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready for use.
  • Assist provider during patient examinations and minor procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
  • Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and handle administrative tasks to facilitate smooth clinic operations.
  • Educate patients on basic healthcare practices and provide instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Requirements

Candidates must complete an accredited Medical Assisting program and hold a CMA or RMA certification. Proficiency in vital signs and sterilization protocols is required, with EHR experience preferred.
