Position Summary

The Echocardiographer performs high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations in accordance with department protocols and physician orders. This position works directly with the interpreting cardiologist to support accurate and timely cardiac imaging services for outpatients. This role requires strong technical scanning skills, professional communication, and the ability to work independently in a rural Critical Access Hospital environment. Principal Functions and Responsibilities: Performs transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to department and cardiologist protocols Obtains high-quality 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow images Accurately performs cardiac measurements and calculations for physician interpretation Works directly with cardiologist regarding protocols, image quality, and patient care Completes accurate documentation Provides safe, compassionate, and professional care Assists with scheduling efficiency and patient throughput Adheres to HIPAA, infection prevention, and hospital policies. Required Experience and Skills: Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Sonography program. Minimum of 2 years echocardiography experience Preferred Experience and Skills: 5 years of experience Experience in a rural or Critical Access Hospital setting Experience working directly with cardiologists Familiarity with Cerner, EnCapture MD Qualifications Physical Requirement: Prolonged walking and standing, ability to assist and position patients safely, repetitive upper extremity movement consistent with sonography, ability to move ultrasound equipment as needed. Certification, Registration or Licensure: Certification: ARDMS registered in RDCS or CCI registered in RCS Current BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association or equivalent required prior to patient care. Work Environment Working Conditions: Health care environment, possible exposure to patient conditions. Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, sitting, hand eye coordination, speaking.

Requirements

Requires graduation from an accredited sonography program and at least 2 years of echocardiography experience. Must hold ARDMS or CCI certification and a current BLS certification.
