Description Advanced Home Health and Hospice of Waco is hiring a PRN Hospice CNA to support patients with compassionate, dignified care during their end-of-life journey. This role is ideal for a CNA who is comfortable working closely with patients and families, values meaningful one-on-one care, and understands the importance of comfort, presence, and professionalism in a hospice setting.
Unlike a traditional CNA role in a facility, this position is centered on hospice care and the unique needs of patients and families during a deeply important time. We are looking for someone who brings not only strong clinical awareness, but also empathy, patience, and a calm, supportive presence.
Position: Hospice CNA Location: Advanced Home Health and Hospice of Waco Status: PRN Pay Range: $22.00-$26.00 per hour Schedule: Weekdays Availability Needed: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Experience: Minimum 1 year of hospice experience required Certification: Must have a valid and in-good-standing CNA License
Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and dressing. Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the healthcare team. Provide companionship and emotional support to patients. Assist with mobility and positioning to enhance comfort and prevent bedsores while ensuring the patient's safety. Support families in understanding and coping with the emotional aspects of end-of-life care. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients. Accurately document care provided and report any significant changes in the patient’s condition. This includes noting exact medication and care provided with the date and time for insurance purposes and appropriate quality of care to patients. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures. Collaborate with family members and health care teams to ensure continuity of care. Adhere to infection control and safety procedures to protect patients and staff. Perform all other duties assigned. We are seeking a dependable Certified Nursing Assistant who is experienced in hospice care and committed to providing high-quality support to patients and families. The ideal candidate is compassionate, observant, and able to communicate effectively with the clinical team while helping patients maintain comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Candidates should be comfortable assisting with personal care, supporting mobility and safety, observing and reporting changes in condition, and working in a home-based care environment with sensitivity and professionalism.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of hospice experience required Certification: Must have a valid and in-good-standing CNA License Physical Requirements Lift and transfer patients, with or without assistance, up to 50 pounds Bend, stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods Assist patients with mobility and other physical activities safely Use visual acuity and dexterity to perform patient care tasks and read documentation Respond calmly and efficiently in urgent or high-stress situations Work in a variety of home environments, including stairs, tight spaces, or uneven surfaces Maintain regular attendance and timeliness
