About the role

Responsible for evaluating patients and developing integrated treatment plans with specific goals and objectives. The role involves monitoring patient progress, modifying care plans, and ensuring accurate billing and documentation.

Position Summary

Responsible for evaluating patients and developing treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and identify specific goals and objectives.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Competent in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observes safety precautions and provides verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from therapy.
  • Ensures accurate billing.
  • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Understands and respects age group, cultural and religious beliefs of clients, community and staff.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety and infection control, as required.
  • Awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Attends rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and any patient care meetings that are required for the assignment.
  • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in occupational therapy. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required. Maintains current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida-temporary permit acceptable. Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy and a current Florida state license. Candidates must hold a current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
