As a Registered Nurse with us, you’ll play a vital role in assessing, coordinating, and providing comprehensive care to our clients.
You’ll also have the opportunity to educate and mentor staff while serving as a critical resource for both clients and colleagues.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing medication administration and addressing the daily non-emergency medical needs of our residents.
You'll provide essential training in First Aid, Blood-borne Pathogens, and medication management.
Your expertise will help ensure best practices and compliance across all North Homes Residential Programs.
Client Care Coordination Conduct timely health screenings and assessments for clients within specified timeframes. Identify acute illnesses and arrange consultations with relevant healthcare professionals. Maintain clear communication with staff and other providers regarding ongoing treatment plans. Monitor and review client needs through established protocols, submitting necessary reports for psychiatrist review. Manage medication orders and ensure the facility is stocked with necessary medical supplies. Medical Supervision Ensure compliance with medical standards and monitor medication administration. Review medication administration records (MAR) and controlled substance counts weekly. Oversee adherence to infection control procedures and maintain records of exposure and follow-up care. Staff Training and Education Provide comprehensive training on medications, their effects, and relevant medical diagnoses. Conduct certification courses and monthly educational groups on various health topics for both staff and clients. Collaboration and Communication Report relevant incidents to appropriate authorities. Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding medical concerns and emergency care. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota is required. Public Health Nursing Certification is a plus, while Child and Teen Certification is highly preferred. Experience in health assessment and a background working with children and adolescents will be valuable assets. Certification from the American Red Cross as an instructor for First Aid/CPR and Blood-borne Pathogens is preferred. We seek a responsible, mature, and healthy individual who can effectively engage with resistant clients and implement care and treatment plans tailored to residents’ needs. A non-judgmental attitude toward clients’ lifestyles, races, and economic backgrounds is essential. Candidates must be 21 years or older and possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
