About the role

The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical support to patients in the Emergency Department to encourage treatment and recovery. They assist in developing service plans and coordinating referrals to ensure successful linkage to treatment services.

Job Requirements Peer Recovery Coach

Work Schedule - Four 10 hours shifts 2p-midnight

The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to support patients in establishing recovery from high risk of alcohol dependance and drug use. The Peer Recovery Coach will work as part of the Behavioral Health Team in the Emergency Department to provide peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment. The Peer Recovery Coach will asst in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment. Services will include appropriate follow up.

Work Experience Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. %The candidate must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of three years demonstrated person recovery and sustained abstinence from alcohol or drug use.

Skills

The Peer Recovery Coach must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to related to patients and health care professionals, as well as the ability to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies. The candidate must possess excellent listening skills, verbal and written communication skills, as well as problem solving skills. The candidate must be able to read, interpret, and write routine reports. Basic computer skills and the willingness to learn new skills.
