About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant performs selected patient-care tasks for patients of all ages and backgrounds under the supervision of the Clinic Manager. Additionally, the role involves performing laboratory duties, office tasks, and accurate data entry within the pulmonary clinic.

The Broadlawns Medical Center campus includes an acute care hospital, primary and specialty care clinics, urgent care and emergency services, lab, radiology, dentistry, inpatient and outpatient mental health, crisis team, and community-based behavioral support services.

Certified Medical Assistant - Pulmonary Clinic GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager performs selected patient-care tasks for patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and backgrounds in the clinic setting.

In addition, laboratory and office duties are performed as needed.

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Performance standards 1.

Demonstrates and supports service excellence according to BMC Employee Expectations for excellence at all times.

Demonstrates ability to consistently meet manager requests, committee responsibilities, and Performance Improvement data collection as outlined by supervisor.

3.

Demonstrates commitment to career growth and competence.

This will be demonstrated by the completion and documentation of all competencies, clinic specific skills, HealthStream, annual in-services, and corporate compliance.

4.

Demonstrates consistent ability to meet Personal Performance Summary Standards.

5.

Attends unit/ staff meetings.

6.

Accurate data entry.

7.

Demonstrates compliance with patient confidentiality.

8.

Demonstrates competence in specific computer applications.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Successful completion of medical assistant education with a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and certification with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NRCMA) within 6 months of hire. or Current CMA certification with the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) and completion of a medical assistant education program approved by Broadlawns Medical Center. a. Staff continuously employed in a CMA position with Broadlawns Medical Center as of September 1, 2025, will maintain qualifications as listed at the time of hire. 2. Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Medical Center Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently. 3. Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support Certification (Health Care Provider), if not already current with certification, prior to providing care independently. Requirements

Candidates must have successfully completed a medical assistant education program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES and hold a relevant certification. Applicants are also required to obtain Basic Life Support certification and complete pharmacology requirements prior to independent practice.
