About the role

The surgical technologist prepares sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures while assisting the operating room team. They also perform direct patient care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Position Summary

Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Certified Surgical Technologist follows established procedural guides in preparation of sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures, performs appropriate room duties involved in direct patient care, and functions as member of the operating room team. Complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital and AORN Standards. Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients. Required to work flexible hours and be on call nights, weekends and holidays. Position Qualification: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program Hold and maintain the Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by Surgical Technologist Board Organization (NBSTSA) or The American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA), preferred. One year OR experience, preferred Must maintain BLS card from the American Heart Association What Should I Know About Hialeah Hospital? Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited surgical technology program and hold a BLS card from the American Heart Association. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or ABSA) and one year of operating room experience are preferred.
