Required: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Certification. X-Ray Certification Or, X-Ray Permit with intent to receive full certification and willing to train as an EFDA. As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, you will: Perform expanded clinical duties allowed by state regulations, such as placing restorations, polishing, applying sealants and fluoride, taking impressions, coronal polishing, and packing/retrieving cord. Assist the dentist during a full range of restorative, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures. Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for each patient and ensure efficient room turnover. Take high-quality digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions/scans (traditional or digital). Fabricate temporary crowns, bridges, and provisional restorations while checking bite, margins and contacts Performing caries susceptibility testing, Mix and prepare dental materials (cements, bonding agents, composites, impression materials).
Requires an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification and X-ray certification. Candidates without EFDA certification must hold an X-ray permit and be willing to undergo training.
