About the role

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the safe and accurate preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications under the guidance of a pharmacist. They must maintain clean work areas, manage floor stock, and ensure compliance with all safety and narcotic handling protocols.

One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Pharmacy Tech, you'll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them.

You'll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients.Every day, you will build trust by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times.

Patient safety is your top priority, so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic, prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing, and are dispensed appropriately, under the Pharmacist's guidance.

To be successful in this role, you follow all safety protocols, including those intended to prevent infection, and you keep a clean work area at all times.

You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.

Prepares IV admixtures accurately using aseptic technique and properly labels, logs and initials final product.

Measurement procedure: accuracy documented on daily IV shift Quality Assurance log; Exceeds (3) top quartile.

Does Not Meet (1) Bottom quartile.

Fills unit dose orders timely and accurately, including extemporaneous compounding.

Exceeds (3) top quartile.

Does Not Meet (1) Bottom quartile.

Omnicell/floor stock medications are filled accurately and in a timely manner.

Exceeds (3) top quartile.

Does Not Meet (1) Bottom quartile.

Follows department narcotic sign-out and restocking procedure including investigation and documentation of discrepancies.

Measured by compliance per year.

Fills unit dose cassettes accurately and within allotted time standard set by department.

Completes all job tasks for assigned shift on a daily basis.

Job Requirements Required Certified PharmacyTechnician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a registered technician.

One (1) year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience or a six (6) week Pharmacy Technician externship at a Dignity Health Sacramento Division Hospital.

Or five (5) years of recent Retail Pharmacy experience processing TARs and PAs (within the last three (3) years).

Or one (1) year of recent experience in PharmacyManaged Care (within the last 3 years).

Pharmacy Technician: CA.

Preferred Completion of an ASHP accreditedPharmacy Technician program.

Experience working in a USP 797 cleanroom.

Experience in the preparation of intravenous admixtures and antineoplastic/chemotherapeutic/hazardous medications.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and be registered with the California State Board of Pharmacy. The role requires at least one year of acute care hospital pharmacy experience or completion of a specific externship program.
