Provides direct personal care to patients including hygiene, feeding, and specimen collection while maintaining a clean and therapeutic environment. Manages medical records, transcribes physician orders, and assists with patient transfers across hospital departments.
Provides personal needs for our patients: Grooming – am/pm care, shaving/preps, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, bedside glucose testing, obtaining laboratory samples (i.e. urinalysis, sputum specimen, etc.) Maintains a clean and organized and therapeutic patient environment Provides for appropriate transporting and re-stocking of supplies and other items related to patient care needs Provides for the efficient management of written and verbal patient information Prepares and maintains the medical record Prepares and organizes charts for admission, transfer and dismissal Maintains patient confidentiality, including protection of the medical record, order communication data and all other verbal and written patient information Transcribes physician orders under the supervision of licensed nurses in a timely manner Monitors new orders and ensures these are verified by the RN/LPN per Spencer Hospital policy Identifies and places appropriate pre-printed orders and consents on the medical record when indicated Recognizes and utilizes medical terminology and approved abbreviations per Spencer Hospital policy Assists with the transfer process of patients within the hospital and to external facilities Participates in all departmental/cleaning activities as assigned Follows appropriate cleaning standards including sanitation standards Completes and hands in daily cleaning checklist assigned to each specific work area Completes spot cleaning of carpets when floor maintenance staff is busy or unavailable Position will require to float in times of low census to a high needs department including patient care departments and environmental services
Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems CNA certification at minimum is required BLS required or willing to obtain upon hire - Inhouse education available Must be willing to float to other areas in time of low census or greater need Schedule: PRN - approximately 2 to 3 shifts per 2 weeks 6:45a-5:15p Weekend and holiday rotation may be required The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department Spencer Hospital offers competitive wages, affordable insurance, IPERS retirement, in-house education, paid time off, family gym membership and so much more!
