• Range: $30.70 - $46.05 Postdoctoral Researcher - Synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry An opportunity is available for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Wa Xian and Dr. Frank McKeon at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates should have a Ph.D. with less than two years of postdoctoral experience, demonstrated experience in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with emphasis on heterocyclic compound chemistry, and an ability to work independently. A background in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery with experience of parallel synthesis and purification methods is required. Some experience in molecular modeling and/or protein-inhibitor visualization is a plus. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and attach cover letter and curriculum vitae. Key Responsibilities · Independently execute multi-step organic syntheses, purify, and characterize small molecules. · Apply solid-phase synthesis and bioconjugation chemistry to complex molecules. · Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret SAR and guide compound design. · Document results, maintain accurate digital records and adhere to EHS and laboratory best practices Required Qualifications · Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry or Organic Chemistry with less than two years academic experience. · Strong hands-on experience in small-molecule design, synthesis, purification and characterization. · Proficiency with LC/MS, NMR, analytical HPLC, and prep HPLC. · Required proficiency in using SciFinder, Reaxys, Chemdraw, etc. · Effective oral and written communication skills; contributed to internal reports, technical documentation, or peer-reviewed publications.
