  • Range: $30.70 - $46.05 Postdoctoral Researcher - Synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry An opportunity is available for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Wa Xian and Dr. Frank McKeon at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates should have a Ph.D. with less than two years of postdoctoral experience, demonstrated experience in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with emphasis on heterocyclic compound chemistry, and an ability to work independently. A background in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery with experience of parallel synthesis and purification methods is required. Some experience in molecular modeling and/or protein-inhibitor visualization is a plus. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and attach cover letter and curriculum vitae. Candidates will be requested to provide names and contact information for two references. The review will continue until the position is filled. Key Responsibilities · Independently execute multi-step organic syntheses, purify, and characterize small molecules. · Apply solid-phase synthesis and bioconjugation chemistry to complex molecules. · Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret SAR and guide compound design. · Document results, maintain accurate digital records and adhere to EHS and laboratory best practices Required Qualifications · Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry or Organic Chemistry with less than two years academic experience. · Strong hands-on experience in small-molecule design, synthesis, purification and characterization. · Proficiency with LC/MS, NMR, analytical HPLC, and prep HPLC. · Required proficiency in using SciFinder, Reaxys, Chemdraw, etc. · Effective oral and written communication skills; contributed to internal reports, technical documentation, or peer-reviewed publications.
