What You’ll Bring

Minimum Education Completion of a five-year pharmacy program in an accredited college of pharmacy. (Required) Minimum Work Experience 1 year Pharmacy experience (Required) Required Licenses and Certifications Pharmacist in the District of Columbia (Required)

Functional Accountabilities

Medication Processing Interpret medication orders, profile orders and oversee the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.

Drug Intervention and Education Perform drug therapy monitoring and intervene as necessary on drug dosing, drug administration, drug interactions, side-effects and monitoring issues; complete therapeutic drug monitoring consults and adverse drug reaction reports as assigned.

Provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.

Interpret research medication orders, ensure accurate preparation of investigational drugs and maintain complete and accurate records.

Must maintain proficiencies in medication handling (including hazardous medications), compounding sterile/non-sterile preparation(s) and completing quality assurance checks per standard operating procedures and policies in compliance with USP <795>, <797> and <800> guidelines.

Supervision/Training Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians by directing and assisting as necessary to ensure rapid medication order turn-around time.

Assist with the education, training and general supervision of Pharmacy Residents, Students and Technicians.

Safety Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children’s National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range.

The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children’s National compensation philosophy.

These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual’s combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications.

Requirements

Candidates must have completed a five-year pharmacy program from an accredited college and possess at least one year of pharmacy experience. A valid Pharmacist license in the District of Columbia is required.
