The Medical Assistant provides administrative and technical support to clinic physicians and nursing staff in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, collecting vital signs, performing waived lab tests, and maintaining orderly treatment rooms.

Medical Assistant (Outpatient) (AHCL)
Assists practitioner and RN with basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist or his designee.
Cross-trains for front office functions and fills in as needed.
Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient and administrative information in the clinic, hospital and community setting.
Maintains lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner.
Observes all clinic protocols and procedures as written.
Performs waived lab tests and lab internal QCs. Prepares samples for shipment to hospital lab.
Prepares patient for provider exam and collects all baseline information and records in the patient chart.
Takes patient vital signs, height and weight measurements. Records results in patient chart.
Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
