Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program. Experience · The skill to draw an average of 7 patients per hour within the first 90 days of employment. · Proficient in the use of Laboratory Information System within the first 90 days of employment. License/Registration/Certifications · Must be ASCP eligible · BLS Preferred Requirements Preferred Education · N/A Preferred Experience · N/A Preferred License/Registration/Certifications · N/A Core Job Responsibilities · Phlebotomist/Computer Operator/Processor is responsible for procurement and distribution of specimens, (blood, urine, etc.), computer data entry and operation of computer equipment. · Must be able to provide and understand at the bedside the specific communication and collection needs of patients ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric. · While these standards are intended to be an accurate reflection of the job requirements, management reserves the right to modify add/or remove duties from jobs and to assign other duties as necessary. ·

Compliance: understands and complies with the Standards of Behavior and department policies, procedures, and regulations. · Process and receiving specimens for the technical staff. · Prepare send out specimens for reference testing. · Answer incoming calls for the laboratory. · Monitor phlebotomy supply inventory and rotate supplies as needed. · Perform breath alcohol and urine drug screen collections. · Perform SLED collections. · Respond to ALL traumas, code strokes and codes sepsis in the ED. · Respond to ALL medical alerts and emergencies for inpatient floors. · Perform other duties as assigned. · Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. · Must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information. · Requires working irregular/flexible hours holidays included. · Must have dependable transportation (including inclement weather) · Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position. · Must be able to withstand constant standing, walking, stooping, and bending. · Must be able to respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations. · Must be able to work as a team member and interact positively with others. · Must be able to work at optimum speed with accuracy and efficiency. · Must be able to take directions and respond quickly and efficiently. · Moderate lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. · Position includes moderate chemical exposure. · Maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information. · Sensitive touch for locating veins, manual dexterity and coordination required for drawing blood. ·

Vision requirements: must be able to pass a color vision test.
