The Nurse Navigator functions to provide access to quality care for cancer patients/families. This is accomplished through expert oncology nursing practice in the areas of care giving, coordination, consultation, education and research (ONS Position Statement on Quality Care, 2007). The Nurse Navigator, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team assists patients along the continuum of care from abnormal findings, diagnosis and through survivorship. The navigator will serve as a clinical resource with expertise in oncology care management while also providing guidance to the patient related to scheduling appointments, removing access related barriers including insurance and transportation, and answering clinical care related question
Education Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required Master's Degree Nursing Preferred
Experience 5 years experience in nursing with 2 years in nursing oncology Required 1 year experience as an oncology nurse case manager or patient navigator Preferred
Licenses PA Registered Nurse License Required OCN - Oncology Cert Nurse Preferred Multi State Compact RN License Required Or
