About the role

The OR Aide is responsible for maintaining anesthesia equipment, cleaning and disinfecting operating rooms, and supporting surgical staff to ensure patient safety. They also assist in patient positioning and manage the inventory of surgical and anesthesia supplies.

  • SUMMARY: Prepares anesthesia equipment and supplies necessary for administration of general, monitored anesthesia care, or regional anesthesia and supports anesthesia services. Maintains inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Cleans and disinfects an operating room by properly disposing infectious waste, mopping floors, cleaning equipment and washing tables and sinks. Work is done using specific cleaning products to ensure the safety of patients. Responsible for supporting the efforts of all Operating Room staff to help guarantee patient safety and achieve the successful completion of daily surgical procedures. Focus of the position is on identifying staff needs, communicating effectively and assisting in the delivery of excellent customer service and patient care. Adhere to the professional standards of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN).

Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains Anesthesia equipment and supplies as directed by Anesthesia Providers. Assist anesthesia providers as directed. Responsible for surgical room cleanliness and turning over rooms between surgeries, maintains operating rooms and support areas. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures. Monitor and assist with inventory control including but not limited to restocking anesthesia supplies. Assist in moving and positioning patients. Participate in performance improvement projects. Delivers appropriate equipment to specified areas. Examples include but are not limited to orthopedic equipment, inpatient beds, ambulatory stretchers, and patient positioning devices. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma/Equivalent

Certified anesthesia technician (Cer.A.T.) or equivalent certification preferred UNION: 1199 SEIU (CPH) Service, Maintenance & Clerical Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $19.01 - $28.79 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Requirements
