About the role

The Pharmacy Technician II assists pharmacists in providing optimal pharmaceutical care by accurately preparing, compounding, and distributing medications. They also manage controlled substances, maintain medication inventories, and assist with drug diversion surveillance.

Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient.

Gathers, labels and distributes medications accurately and efficiently.

Packages, prepares and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently.

Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance.

Accurately performs the duties of a Tech-Check-Tech Pharmacy Technician if qualified.

Assists with training new pharmacy staff.

Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications.

Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes.

Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.

Requirements

Candidates must have completed an approved vocational Pharmacy Technician training program with at least six months of experience, or have at least eighteen months of applicable experience. A current registration with the Board of Pharmacy and National Pharmacy Technician Certification are required.
