Performs routine diagnostic exams, portable exams, surgical exams, office, and RMS/electronic record system.

Assists radiologist and physicians when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Must possess Radiological Technologist license through the West Virginia Board of Radiologic Technologists. 2. Registered in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). 3. CPR certification.

EXPERIENCE: 1. One (1) year of imaging experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Prepares patient for radiographic examinations; explains procedures prior to testing and answers patient questions relating to ordered exam. 2. Positions patients properly according to type of radiological examinations; selects proper equipment and supplies for patients and provides radiation protection during examinations. 3. When PACS is down develops radiological films are sent to laser printer; follow downtime protocols. 4. Is responsible for reporting any equipment that is not in proper working condition to the supervisor so they can call for service. 5. Maintains supplies in clean and sterile conditions; transports contaminated instruments and devices to Central Processing for proper sterilization. Maintains JCACHO standards. 6. Instructs and cross-trains new technicians in proper methods and procedures regarding routine diagnostic exams performed in the Radiology department. 7. Performs sterile and isolation techniques; follows all OSHA standards. 8. Performs various routine radiological diagnostic exams and procedures as assigned by supervisor. 9. Maintains continuing education on procedures and techniques in order to perform examinations of high quality in all areas of radiology including routine diagnostic. Complies with certification requirements. This will be reviewed on a yearly bases. Follows ALARA. 10. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition to prevent spread of infection or disease to patients, visitors and personnel. 11. Properly assesses patient information on RMS system. Charges, changes, adds information as necessary to keep records accurate. Can assess patient lab records, etc as needed through electronic record systems. Logs off after using computer and is also responsible for verifying pre-certification of insurance for procedures that require it. Ensures all completed images are on PACS. 12. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served. (Neonatal 0-11 months, Pediatric 1-12 years, Adolescent 13-17 years, Adult 18-79 years, Geriatric 80+ years) Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development. Assesses information relative to patient's status and interprets this information to identify the age specific needs of each patient. Maintains an understanding of the range of treatment necessary for each patient and provides appropriate care based on their age specific needs. 13. May remove oxygen tubing from a wall gauge, attach tubing to an oxygen tank and adjust the flow meter on the tank as ordered by the physician. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph. 2. Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. 3. Wear a lead apron weighing approximately 8 to 15 pounds for extended periods of time. 4. Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of weight. 5. Carry items of up to 20 pounds. Requirements

Requires a Radiological Technologist license from the West Virginia Board of Radiologic Technologists and ARRT registration. Candidates must also possess current CPR certification and demonstrate the ability to perform various radiological procedures.
