Position Summary

The Certified Staff 1 and 2/Senior Sonographer works under the administrative direction of the Radiology Director and Operations Supervisor, and under the clinical direction and guidance of the Radiologist and Ultrasound Team Leader. The Sonographer performs a variety of routine, complex and highly technical procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the application of nonionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves to humans for diagnosis of disease. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High school graduate or equivalent, graduate of an approved CAHEA/JRCT school of Radiologic Technology, or a two year allied health equivalent. RDMS ultrasound certification. Employees who are cross-trained in more than one DI modality are responsible for all aspects of the job descriptions in each separate modality. Competencies in each modality must be kept at adequate levels of performance for each area, and necessary documentation, including certification renewals, must take place on a yearly basis. EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) certified and ARRT preferred Staff 1 Sonographer registry requirements: RDMS or RVT required (RVT is required within 180 days of employment and RDMS (OB) is required within 2 years of employment) Staff 2 Sonographer registry requirements: RVT and RDMS required (OB required within 2 years of employment) Senior Sonographer registry requirements: RVT, RDMS (OB) plus one additional ARDMS specialty board (not including Physics). Five plus years registered sonographer experience. This is a bargaining union position.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program. Certification requirements include RDMS and RVT credentials, along with at least five years of registered sonographer experience.
